What you get with every lookup
Every CNPJ lookup returns the company's full record: legal name and trade name, founding date, legal nature, share capital, size, and registration status with the date and reason for the last change. You also see the ownership structure, with each partner's name and role, plus a fully normalized address.
Economic activities appear split between primary and secondary CNAE codes, each with its official description. It's the same data the Federal Revenue publishes, just readable: no captcha, no PDF, no need to decode a lookup table.
Who it's for
Anyone vetting a supplier before signing a contract. Anyone doing credit analysis who needs to confirm a company is active. Anyone prospecting who wants to understand a lead's size and segment before the first call. Anyone working with public bids who needs to check registration status and a compatible CNAE.
It's a tool for one-off lookups, built for everyday use. If your case is high-volume lookups inside a system, the right path is the Next API.
Bulk export for prospecting
A single lookup works when you already know which company you want to check. When the question is the opposite — which companies exist with this profile? — the answer is export. You set filters for CNAE, state, city, size, and registration status, and get the full list of active companies matching the criteria.
In practice, it's a map of your addressable market. Every active dental clinic in a metro area, every mid-sized trucking company in a state, every accounting firm opened in the last two years. Instead of a list bought from a shady source, you're working against the official registry.
The export includes only legal-entity data: legal name, trade name, CNAE, size, registration status, full address, and the contact details on file with the CNPJ registry. Partner names are excluded, and no data is enriched from other sources.
Where the data comes from
From the public CNPJ database that Brazil's Federal Revenue Service publishes. Sharpfy doesn't alter the content: it structures, indexes, and keeps it up to date. That means what you read here matches the official record, with the same validity for verification purposes.
Legal-entity data isn't personal data protected under Brazil's LGPD in most cases, which is why the export is limited to it. The ownership structure, which includes individuals' names, appears in single lookups and is handled with the care the law requires — details are in our Privacy Policy.

Frequently asked questions
Is the CNPJ lookup really free?
Yes. Individual lookups are free and require no sign-up. Bulk list export and programmatic access via the Next API are the paid features, aimed at high-volume use.
Is the data official?
Yes. The entire database comes from the public CNPJ data published by Brazil's Federal Revenue Service. Sharpfy organizes and indexes this data without altering its content.
How often is the data updated?
The database syncs every 30 days, following the Federal Revenue Service's publication cycle.
Can I export a list of companies?
Yes. You set filters for CNAE, state, city, size, and registration status, and export the full list of matching companies — the most-used feature for B2B prospecting and market research.
Does the export include partner data?
No. The export includes only legal-entity data: legal name, trade name, CNAE, size, registration status, address, and the contact details on file with the CNPJ registry. Partner names aren't exported, and no data is enriched from external sources.
Can I use the exported data for prospecting?
Yes, for B2B prospecting. It's public legal-entity data published by the Federal Revenue Service. Responsibility for use lies with whoever hires the service: keep Brazil's LGPD in mind for any processing you do, and follow good commercial-communication practices. Limits are set out in our Terms of Use.
Can I look up multiple CNPJs from within my own system?
For programmatic lookups inside a CRM, ERP, or your own system, the right product is the Next API, which exposes the same data through a REST API.
